Every golf group has one. Actually, it has all of them.
The Golf Guy Decoder is a hilarious look at golf addiction, golf psychology, bad excuses, fragile egos, expensive equipment decisions, and the one perfect shot that ruins everything.
No spam. No guru nonsense. Just book news, publishing notes and the occasional useful idea.
Book
Project
Golf is not a sport. It is a personality test with grass.
Most golf books try to fix your swing. This one diagnoses the damage. Lovingly, of course. Mostly.
The Species
A breakdown of the characters every golfer knows: the club tinkerer, the lesson addict, the philosopher, the angry silent walker and the guy who “usually plays better.”
The Brain Damage
Why one good shot can override six topped balls, three lost sleeves, a ruined afternoon and a suspicious charge on your credit card.
The Rituals
Golf trips, breakfast beers, sacred warm-up routines, range delusions, scorecard manipulation and other traditions society has chosen to tolerate.

I’m not selling anything directly here. This is simply where I share book updates, publishing experiments, online business notes and new ideas.
- Launch updates for The Golf Guy Decoder
- Behind-the-scenes notes on writing, publishing and testing book ideas
- Online business observations without the fake private-jet smell
- Occasional stories from Chiang Mai, travel, Thai food and life in Asia
You know these people. You may be these people.
Every group has its own ecosystem. Some bring clubs. Some bring opinions. Some bring emotional instability disguised as course management.
The Equipment Addict
Believes the next driver will fix what years of denial could not.
The YouTube Swing Rebuilder
Arrives with seventeen swing thoughts and leaves with eighteen.
The Breakfast Beer Technician
Calls it hydration, confidence management and “part of the process.”
The Rules Guy
Somehow knows every rule except when people want him to stop talking.
The Golf Philosopher
Turns a missed putt into a TED Talk about patience and destiny.
The Distance Obsessed Golfer
Would rather hit it 300 yards into a forest than 220 into the fairway.
The Fake Humble Golfer
Says “lucky shot” loudly enough to make sure everyone saw it.
The Angry Silent Walker
Doesn’t yell. Just radiates enough darkness to affect local wildlife.
I’m Manuel Becvar.
I was born and grew up in Austria, but I’ve spent a large part of my adult life in Asia. I lived and worked in Hong Kong, built businesses, sold one, moved to Thailand, and somehow ended up writing books from Chiang Mai.
Over the years I’ve worked in corporate life, eCommerce, product sourcing, online courses, newsletters, YouTube projects, AI experiments and publishing. Basically, I kept pulling on business threads until the sweater became weird but interesting.
These days I write about books, publishing, online business, travel, Thai food, marketing, and the strange psychology of people trying to build a better life without becoming a motivational quote with a haircut.
